The place
Horizon West, in brief
Horizon West sits in southwest Orange County, between Winter Garden and Windermere, directly north and west of Walt Disney World. It was never going to have a downtown. In 1995 Orange County adopted a plan for a different shape: a set of villages, each with its own schools, parks and centre, joined by lakes, trails and the roads between them.
It worked. At the 2020 census Horizon West was home to 58,101 people, up from about 14,000 ten years earlier, which made it one of the fastest-growing communities in the country. The median age is 34, more than a quarter of residents are under 18, and 19,322 households share 32.73 square miles of lakes, groves and new streets. The first phase of Horizon West Regional Park opened in 2026.
The villages
Six villages, north to south
Each one was planned around its own schools, a park and a centre, so the address on a business tells you which village it belongs to before you open the map.
Village of Bridgewater
The northern end, up against Winter Garden.
Hamlin Town Center
The town centre. Shops, restaurants, a cinema and the waterfront on Lake Hancock.
Lakeside Village
The first village built, beside Windermere.
Seidel / Village F
Planned as Village F. Newer streets south of Hamlin.
Hickory Nut / Village H
Planned as Village H, still filling in.
Ovation / Village I
Planned as Village I. The youngest, and the closest to Disney.

Why
A place with no main street is a place you search
When the tap breaks or the kids need a dentist, nobody here walks down a high street to compare. They type it into a phone. And every month brings new neighbours who do not have a plumber yet, a favourite taqueria, or a barber they trust.
